    w7 locking

why does windows 7 ultimate x64 (not sure if other versions have this issue) lock files after they are deleted thus making overwriting impossible for what seems to be a huge amount of time until system decides its ok to stop being a worthless piece of?

is there seriously anyway to fix this? permissions don't help, "running as admin" is a joke
why the hell does it do this???

Thats not normal, something else is going on there. I've never seen that happen on any Windows OS I've ever ran. Has it always done this or did you just notice it? Is the delay with the file going to the recycle bin or actually emptying the recycle bin? How much free space do you have on your hard drive/partition?

Is there an antivirus active? Have you tried to disable it to verify if the antivirus locks it?
You can also use LockHunter is a free 64/32 bit tool to delete files blocked by any processes to check which process is locking the file.

its always happened the entire time ive used windows 7 but only been using for a few months
i have had it happen with every type of file and even folders but seems to be happening alot more with mingw32 trying to overwrite exe.
doesnt matter if i manually try to really delete or just send it to recycling bin. i think it just copies file to recycling bin then locks the file after copy.

is there any service if disabled will cause this issue? the only thing i can think that may be "wrong" or different

Maybe not, but if you're not using an AV app, maybe your system is infected with something?

    EDIT: Are you running BitLocker?
