A simple yes or no will do.

If you have more description, feel free.

I have installed every build from 7000 to 7229 when they came out and I am getting a little tired..

So, if it's worth it, I'll do it.

As RTM is round the corner. Installing a intimate build is not worth it.
And if you are as crazy as me when it comes to new software it`s worth it. It gives you mental satisfaction that you are using the latest build.:)

I say upgrade (not clean install) for 3 reasons.
1. It faster than build 7229.
2. More stuff fixed & newest build.

I upgraded from 7229 to 7264. 7264 ran much slower than 7229 (all x64). I then did a clean install of 7264 and there was an improvement in overall performance, but it also seemed to introduce an AHCI bug on wake from sleep.

I am keeping 7264 because I can run it with AHCI disabled. If I had to do it again, I would not.

For me absolutely yes! I was getting BSODs all over the place with the 7232 build! So far win 7264 runs perfectly! PowerISO is lightning fast, not like in the older builds! :D

I have been upgrading since 7100 and now it does not work.

You have to modify the cversion.ini file from the image (SOURCES folder) to something like this to be able to upgrade:

[HostBuild]
MinClient=7077.0
MinServer=7000.0

one simple solution is to run setup.exe in compatabilty mode (vista SP2)
you will get some rubbish about losing your ultimate extras and have to re-start, then all will work fine from there on..... :D
Ps you will prob have to mount the image or copy the files to your hard disk for it to work properly.

Yes! One tiny text file! If you remember to upgrade from the beta to the RC you had to do the same thing!

I upgraded from 7229x64 just by running in SP2 compatibility mode without changing files.

I wouldn't ever do an upgrade via the software.. Only a clean install for me.

Looks like I am gonna do it...

If it looks good on the lappy, I'll do it on the media server.

Upgrade installs from prior builds of 7 to later builds have been working quite excellently for me on my rig. Having done several of them by now, I'm quite happy with the results and the ease.

I do have to clean up a few little things after each upgrade is completed, such as reinstalling a couple of security apps, and a driver or two, but it's far easier than doing a clean install. MS has really improved the upgrade outcome, imo, and upgrades now work very well indeed.

That said, I'll probably still clean install the final golden RTM version, although I'm now not convinced it's really necessary if upgrading from a prior version of 7.
