So this could be another problem with 7264 - I had no problems removing it from 7232 as mentioned above. OTOH, while the tablet features are installed, the services are not running unless you have a tablet, so no real harm.

In windows 7 though, it actually does remove the search bar from the start menu..disabling the service does not do any of that. it just disables the service. All the builds I had it off on showed performance improvement.

The performance on my end with build 7264 is, with my setup, less responsive and jittery.

No, nothing at all. It has the services installed but not active unless it senses the tablet resurces and devices. There's got to be some bizarre thing going on (technical term :)). I was able to just go to the CP, check it off, re-started and it was gone, with my antivirus & malware utilities on. But as I said, I'm on 7232 x64. I had some really bad stuff happen coying across the network between two PCs with 7264 so I reverted to 7232.
I haven't had any bad things happen whilst running 7264, but I'm also reverting back (to 7229). As I posted in another thread, 7264 isn't what I had expected. Re-downloading 7229 as I type this, 1.5 hours to go... I just couldn't resist, lol.

    Sticking to 7229 until RTM.

Pretty much did everything I could. I wonder if Chris "workaround" for this build had something to do with this not working..

    Why uninstall Tablet Input?
As DJG pointed out, it's not started unless it senses an input device, and it uses no discernible resources that you would save by uninstalling it.

Personally, and I know allot of others find this also, I find the Search box in the start menu to be one of the Best features to come out in W7. You can start less used programs quickly just by typing a few letters, and find other items much faster as well...I can't see why you wouldn't want it. Power users LOVE that thing, and you can simply turn off the Search function rather then uninstalling it if you feel it's slowing you down.

Yeah I don't see any inconveniences of having both installed, I was just pointing out that it seems to be bug or something.

    Thanks!

I am using 7264 x64 and everything removed fine for me. I also removed a few other things as well. I left search on, but disabled the services so it would not index my drive, but it still allows me to search my computer, especially control for the hidden program. With search uninstalled, you can no longer search control panel and have to start running around for that program you can't find.

Overall I was dissapointed with 7264, even performance wise, and went back to 7260. Its the best build Ive used so far, and had no problem removing what I wanted to in it.
