Your feedback on Windows 7 X64 Build 7000...

I would like to know what people think of the X64 bit build 7000 on this site?

I personally have not installed it just yet, but at this current moment, I'm downloading it with 37% complete.

    Startup and Shutdown times/issues?
Playing small and large audio/video files?
    Audio/video drivers?

I was impressed with build 6801 X64, and build 7000 X32bit, but from what I read build 7000 X64 is just amazing.

Your feedback please, and thank you to everybody who contributed to this wonderful site....very grateful!

I've been running it for 2 days now and I really couldn't fault it, seems lots faster than my Vista x64 install and I haven't had any stability or compatibility issues either.

So...here's the ultimate question- would you or have you considered to use this build as your primary OS?
Personally, I really want to reformat my HD's and use this build...but obviously not suggested just yet, yes? lol

I'm testing it as my primary OS ATM I wont make a decision on it for a few days yet, but unless I find a show stopper I would say 99% I will make the switch full time.

Well, I have installed the 64-bit that I got from torrent and I came to the conclusion that the software that I want to install is often not available in a 64-bit version, thus rendering a 64-bit OS somewhat useless.

I'm going to reinstall the 32-bit version, but if I can get my hands on an official beta it'll probably be the 64-bit, just because that's the future and maybe in a month or two there'll be more 64-bit software.

I've used several 32 bit versions of W7 and each had three primary issues on my M1330 laptop; nVidia BSOD at startup about every other time and the touchpad/mouse pointer locked up every other time (with AND without the Synaptics drivers) and the Mobile Broadband card utility would not install (an older version did, though) in versions after 6801. I installed x64 yesterday and it is ROCK SOLID. No issues so far.

I also installed W7 x64 on my XPS 420 yesterday and for laughs (since I hope to be reinstalling a "newer" release today) I installed nearly everything that came with the machine... Adobe Premier Elements, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Soundbooth, Adobe Bridge, MS Works, Roxio, etc., etc. So far they all work, and work quickly.

For me, I think Windows 7 x64 is a keeper. Seems faster, more stable and certainly more "modern" than some tweaked-out XP Pro installations I run (with HDDs a dime a dozen, I have a drawer full.....).

I too dont have a bad word about 7000, i think its actually quicker than 6936 was (or maybe thats wishful thinking), my WEI went through the roof.. so that cant be bad..

7000 has actually solved my snipping tool problem from the earlier builds, sometimes it would open & become unresponsive or just not open at all..?? it happened on 6801 & 6936
    but its gone..

im now using this as my primary OS, i wonder how long it will be before i fire up vista again...lol

Have also had the 7000 x64 version for the last two days and so far very happy and am using it as my primary o/s will probably keep it that unless there is a major problem, which i do not anticipate.
