    Notepad - Double click behaviour

    Hi.

I have the following problem with notepad under Windows 7 Ultimate (Spanish).

When I double click any text with characters like +, -, !, %, $, ?; the selection stops at any of those characters.

    Example:

    abcd+efg
    abcd-efg
    abcd!efg
    abcd%efg
    abc$efg
    abcd?efg

This is very annoying when I try to select an URL in notepad.

Any idea about why is this happening?

    Thanks in advance.

That would appear to be normal behavior, my xp laptop and my win 7 desktop are both doing the same thing.

It happens to me only with Win7. WinXP works fine.

Those symbols are treated as word breaks. Works the same on all Windows systems, probably Linux as well.

I thought it had always worked that way. Just tried it under XP and as you said, it selected the entire word, no break. There is probably a registry hack to fix this but I don't know what it is. Hopefully one of the others here has something.

Thanks for taking time to check this.

I have been googling this matter, but no answer yet. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords for searching.

I am facing the same problem. I'm working with imperial dimensions.

    12-6"1/4

Used to be able to double-click the whole value, now i need to triple click. So when I have a string with multiple imperial dimensions, its either all the dimensions at once with the triple-click, on nothing. Double-click used to let me select one dimension at the time.

Further testing showed me, its software related. Some programs use to have the same behaviour on XP.

    Anyone found the problem yet?
