Dude, LOL you believe it is real? HAHA With reguards to the whole change you want...if you think its not good enough, why don't you tell MS what they should do...really what else can be done with the computers we have on the market today? You are asking for James Bond computers when that technology doesn't exist to the public. (If any of it is real, may be, maybe not, who knows lol)
LOL you are living in the past. That tech DOES exist! Microsoft Surface is a great example. It is not as good as it is in the movies, (duh) but it is coming along VERY well. Just very EXPENSIVE. I want one, but not gonna happen!

Anyways, M$ does use the previous OS as a jump point, but that does NOT mean that it is the same. The change he was talking about probably won't happen, as that is a huge GUI change. But you can change your desktop to have things like that. Rocket Dock will add a Mac like dock bar to your desktop, if that is what you desire. Many other things as well.

Are you sure that's Windows 8 and not...

"Microsoft plays with new non-Windows OS; If only it could start from scratch"

    "First paragraph is illogical
    Larry--

In your initial paragraph, you claim that the subliminal message behind MS's development of a non-Windows OS is that they would like to move beyond Windows but can't.

I don't see how you conclude that MS's development of a new non-Windows OS is in fact tacit admission that they can't move beyond Windows.

This doesn't seem logical."Microsoft plays with new non-Windows OS; If only it could start from scratch | TalkBack on ZDNet

I doubt it is, but it might be.

That will be needed at one point...

Windows 8 or the next windows if leaked will look like windows 7. If you have seen windows 7 M1 builds you will notice that it looked just like vista. So dont hope for new GUI.

I'm sure the early builds from any previous version looked a lot like their predecessor since you have to start somewhere in order to build on that as well as see improvements incorporated into the next. You can expect that they'll work further with the new WinMin kernel as well as expanding on the XP mode likely to see a Vista or 7 mode even at some point.

Kind of inclined to agree just not sure why the Win8 pre-Alpha bit got added.

I also think RTM will deffinately be 7300 that allows for plenty of possible test builds before than and also gives a nice round number for release.

............ Mind you 7500 would look so much better. lol

You would surprized to hear that many actually consider XP to be the flop and prefer Vista! Personally I found it far more stable despite being the larger new version at the time.

With 7 seeing the XP mode Win 8 and/or what comes later would likely see a Vista mode due to newer versions no longer able to programs(not too many) written for Vista and then later for 7.

People moving up from Vista to 7 won't be disappointed at the need for all new softwares while we will have to wait and see if 8 will be the same in that sense. The Vista mode would work the same as the XP mode run on the Virtual PC.
