Well, if MS is gonna show off the RTM during the conference, don't you think that they'd show something off? The only icons MS needs to change are minor ones, like the Registry icon, the Tasbar & Start Menu Properties icon, and others.
Yea, they will show off Windows 7, thats the whole point.

99% of the people out there, end users, have no idea what Windows 7 even is yet.

They haven't been working on this for over a year, just to say, wow this sucks, lets change some icons so we have something to show off.....

I agree. Place I work is still using 4 old machines running XP. A few of my colleagues are running Vista x86 at home on underpowered laptops and don't like it much.
They are not really aware that W7 exists and not in the slightest bit interested in my rambling on about it.
It would be interesting to know how many people in the world are using W7 like we are.

Anyway, I don't think the RTM will look or perform any different to what we have.
They already got us so they don't need to make a splash with us and any one of the builds since RC is pretty impressive if you haven't seen it.
I just hope I don't still hanker after 7127 after the RTM comes out.

    Cheers, J:)

They are still using the old icons from Windows 9X. They should replace them all with new icons & some new themes, which has to be a lighter version of current default theme, with some new wallpapers.

Yes, new icons along with some themes. Let the default icons stay, so all white-papers are correct, but make a .dll with icons matching some of the themes in color.

Make some fun gadgets, i.e. a mirrored analog watch, a calculator that can't do math, a spinning dice that would stop when you click on it saying, work, play, make love, defragment or whatever

I wish there was a way to pin the preview windows that are on the taskbar as you drag your mouse over. There's already an X to close them so shouldn't be a problem to pin them in my opinion. It would end up being a little bit like a Picture-In-Picture. Useful when you wait for something to happen...whether it's waiting for the next round in a game, waiting for someone to come back on the webcam, a stream finishing loading etc. etc.

I also wish there was an advanced search window with all types of filters. Right now only having that little area at the top of the explorer window seems too minimal to be the only option.
