    Strange multiple file selection Behaviour

All of a sudden after turning on my Win7 based notebook this morning, when I select a folder or file with the left mouse button in Windows Explorer, all folders and files from the first to the one being pointed at will be selected. The files & directories stay selected. Double clicking will attempt to open the lot. Very annoying behaviour.

It's as if the first item is automatically selected and someone is holding the shift key down.

Right click on the desired item gets me out of trouble. ANy selected files are deselected and I can then use right click option menu's Open item.

Any ideas of how to fix this short of re-installing WIndows7?

Hi Guiguy and welcome to the Forum. You might want to look in Explorer and make sure you have not turned on "Group By". It should normally be set to "none". Give it a try and let us know.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply, but I had already eliminated that.

I installed iTunes in the last couple of days and read that it was suspected in causing issues in (Vista's) Explorer. I removed it, rebooted, but again, some behaviour.

I then went back to Tools > Folder Options, hit Restore Defaults, clicked the view tab and "Apply to Folders". Now, I'd done this a dozen times this morning without luck.

    But this time it worked

The difference was I had removed iTunes. I can live without it.

    Cheers
