    permission error

    Hey guys,

It's my first post and I need help already. I did a search and did not see my specific issue sop here it goes.

My nephew was over and who know what he did but now when I go to download or run a program it gives me PERMISSION ERRORS. I can get a few things to run when I right click and run as admin or change the settings as I saw on other posts but I cant get important things to work like office or download anything. I made another user as admin and everything works fine but I lose all my documents and everything else that is set up on my account. here is the error boxes that shows up.

    thanks for any help.

Easiest way to fix it would be to do a system restore to a date before your nephew got to your computer.

    Start>Type System Restore>Enter

If it fails go to My Computer> C:\ Drive >Program files>Right click the name of the folder of program you want to use>Properties>Security>Edit
Then make sure you have the appropriate permissions.

But system restore should work as long as you have a good date to use.

Thanks for the reply....it only gave me one time and it was the same date my cpu was affected. I did the restore and it is still the same.

any other ideas besides a full restore....hate to do this.

    thx

get the ownership of c drive again that might help

    1. my computer
    2. right click on c drive
    3. goto properties
    4. choose sicurity tab
    5. goto advanced at the lower section
    6. click on owner tab
    7. click on edit in lower section
    8. make you as the owner(where its written the pc name)

You ticked the box Show Other Restore Points yes?

And did you check the permission's associated to the application your trying to run as per the link in my other post?

You could also try SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker command line, although I'm not 100% sure if it will be looking at the right files, anyone care to clarify?

Do you mean restoring from a back up Image or using Windows System Restore?

You *should* already have a backup of any necessary files. If not, make one before going any further.
