What has happened to Asus support?
They were pretty good a year or so ago. Now they don't even respond to support issues whether from the forum or from their webform.

Maybe you were lucky last year. I used Asus boards for several years and never had a good experience with support generally. Mostly due to flaky web sites rather than outright non-response to a submitted issue, but it was enough to make me give up on Asus.
I don't think any of the motherboard manufacturers will win any support awards. You just have to hope you can avoid their customer support entirely.
I bought a Gigabayte a couple of months ago and actually got a response to a question within 48 hours---more than I expected.
I try to avoid any type chat, e-mail, or support tickets and instead always opt for phone calls when I need support. I don't own a Asus board, never did, but I'm sure Asus has a phone number to be reached. You can usually Google to find a good phone number.
Give that a try and call them; you're likely to get much better results then hoping someone actually reads the e-mail/support ticket.
My two cents.
I haven't had any issues with ASUS support...perhaps just a very busy cycle...
You may want to post your issues here and let the Guru's have a whack at it.
Asus support is a bit useless for issues.
All the rest seem as bad or even worse- for motherboards.
Phone calls may work better.
I had a question last August. Listed what I had tried to resolve minor issue which didn't work.
The reply was to do the exact action I already tried that didn't work.
Replied to their reply "I tried that" and never heard from them again.
Of course I then found the answer on Sevenforums.
I've been here ever since.
