Notepad's "text copy" behaviour

Hello!

In Windows XP, if I had a web link saved in a text form in Notepad and wanted to mark it and then copy into a web browser it was very easy: double-click, copy, paste and it's done.

In Windows 7 the Notepad acts differently when I double-click a link: if a link has "?" or "-" marks in itself then Notepad (or Windows 7 system if you will) marks only the text before (or after) those marks. So I can't copy the links fast as I was used to do before.

So, is there a way to configure Notepad (or whatever else has to be reconfigured) so that it would ignore "?" and "-" marks when I double-click on a link (or any text at all)?

Thank you.

What happens if you highlight the link, right click, copy and then paste in your address bar?

Everything is fine then. But it's the highlighting itself that I have a problem with. I used to be able to highlight a whole link with a double-click in XP Notepad, now I can't do that anymore with 7 Notepad. I do that a lot so it's quite annoying to have to mark (highlight) each link manualy, draging mouse from the beginning of the link to the end - instead of just double-clicking it.

Double clicking on any contiguous line of text characters will highlight the text automatically, but various special characters and <Space> will prevent anything after themselves from being highlighted in this way. I don't think there is anything you can do about it.

If that's really so, then I'm really sorry about that. I love how it was with the XP Notepad when I could highlight a whole web link with just a quick double-click. Thank you anyway.

This is still bothering me very much, to this day. It's very time consuming for me the 7 vs XP way. Is there a notepad alternative (a simple one, like the original notepad) or some other way to change that to the XP style? Thanx!

If you triple click a weblink pasted into wordpad in Windows 7 it highlights the entire address like notepad did in XP.

I can't triple click in Wordpad. It stops me at the 2nd click and asks if I want to open the URL. This is with Windows 7 and Windows 8.
