    Getting Taskbar to STAY hidden

I have the setting "Hide Taskbar" selected, yet I find it often refuses to stay hidden. It seems like sometimes it will do this when an application/window wants to "tell me something", like that there's a new email (sometimes even when the "envelope" that indicates new mail isn't in sight), but sometimes it just seems to stay up for no reason, and I have to close all the windows one by one to get rid of it. Is there any way to get the Taskbar to STAY HIDDEN unless I'm mousing over it?

    TIA

    Dan

I have used that feature forever, since Win 95 I think. Saying that I have never had a problem with it showing up. On all my systems it only does that if a program is like you say trying to tell me something. Other then that it has always stayed hidden and does not pop up.

I would look at what is running in the background on your system. Something is making it pop up and stay up.

Mine is set to Hide as well, are you sure that you aren't letting the mouse wander too far down as that will make the Taskbar appear. The odd time mine has stayed in view it just means I have to click the left mouse button and it goes back down, of course make sure the mouse isn't over anything on your desktop.
