Solved Problems Wih Icons Displaying

Bro

Windows n00b :D
Earlier today, after installing Win7 SP1 and other updates, I began having problems displaying certain icons all of a sudden. This wasn't immediate; it happened after a couple of restarts. I'm not sure what could be the problem. It isn't affecting performance, or the functionality of the programs, but this isn't something I like happening to the display of my OS.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone provides. :)

I was actually doing some browsing around before your reply and had found that very same thread. I just came back from a restart after running the .bat file, but to no avail. There's still no appropriate icons displaying. Might there be another fix for this?

Thank you for the helpful link nonetheless!

Two things to try. The 1st, ridiculously simple, but if it works, brilliant.

Boot into safe mode, then reboot normally. That's it.

The second, create a new user and see if the icons work there. If so, transfer to the new user account, and delete the old.

You could also change the icons manually, and if they stick, that is a simple, but time consuming fix. If nothing works, a Repair Install should fix it.

Didn't get to try that before I did two system restores, which managed to do the trick. I'll keep it in mind if it ever occurs again, though. Thanks!

Your method was just as good, usually just lose some updates which you can get again. A Guy
