When receiving this message on boot up attempt running windows 7 home premium on a dell 1545 laptop with a fresh install and new hard drive would the problem be hardware related or software? Any chance it could be hardware related to the motherboard or is it most likely software related to the OS install? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Boot System Recovery Options from F8 tools menu, DVD Repair console, or System Repair Disc - Create
Accept any offered repair. If it fails to start, boot back in to run Startup Repair repeatedly.
System Restore should be automated by Startup Repair along with all other fixes, but if Startup Repair fails you can try System Restore from the options menu.
If this fails, confirm Win7 100mb SysReserved boot partition (or if you don't have it, the Win7 partition itself) is marked Active using Diskpart from Recovery Options Command line, or from free Partition Wizard bootable CD: Partition - Mark as Active
Now run Startup Repair again x3. If this fails, change Active partition to Win7 partition to run Repairs again.
If this fails, run Dell Diagnostics by tapping the F12 Dell Boot menu key at startup.
You can copy out your files using this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
Then run full Factory Recovery from boot or disks you made, restore from 7 DVD/Repair CD using a Win7 backup image you stored, or clean reinstall:
