    CPU takes awhile to sleep.

After pressing the shortcut "sleep" key on my keyboard. My monitor will turn off immediately whereas the CPU will take awhile to sleep.
Before i reformat my computer, my CPU will off immediately together with the screen.

I know it may be a few seconds difference but i'm worried that something is wrong!

    Thank you!

Uncheck all items in msconfig>Startup except AV and gadgets/stickies if you use them: Startup Programs - Change. All others are freeloaders at all times on your RAM/CPU, Startup and can spy on you.

After several restarts, check back to see if anything has written itself back into the list, then turn it off in it's Program Preferences or uninstall it.

Now in msconfig>Services tick the box to Hide All MS Services to see what's running without your knowledge and turn it off in its Preferences or uninstall.

See if this helps it Sleep easier. If not check the Performance log to see what might be hanging sleep: troubleshooting steps

    Hi there,
    Thanks for your reply.

Im just wondering, since i just reformatted my computer. I dont think there will be any programmes running behind that will actually slow down the computer.

And yes, i will try the above methods

The standard culprit in sleep issues is the Display driver.

Are you using the driver given by the installer and quickly updated by optional Windows Updates after enabling hardware auto-updating? Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware

If so, look for an update on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer or display adapter. Driver Install - Device Manager - Windows 7 Forums

I just updated my display adapters but the result is still the same ):
Is it possible it's a hardware issue?

If you've worked through the troubleshooting steps given and see no clues in the logs or other resources listed, then run the Sleep trace which will always get a definitive answer as to cause.
