Can't create new folder inside folder I own Hello all
I have a music folder, and I can't create new folders in it. (My own folder on my E drive, nothing to do with the Windows supplied my music folder.) I get a you need permission warning.
Now. I am listed as the owner of the Music folder. I did the Take Ownership registry trick (from these forums) a while back and ran it on Music. I have also used the security dialog on the folder to specifically assign myself and also checked the "update sub stuff" check box (can't remember what it really saiud, but you experts know the one). I also run explorer as admin using the usual Run as Admin option on the icon to launch it.
Even with all this - I can't create new folders in Music. Some of you might have heard me scream nasty things about Windows 7's mother today. I'm getting annoyed. Please help a poor soul.
Thanks. | My System Specs |

Since E: is not your system drive, take ownership of the entire drive, starting at the root. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (Technet) CPU 3.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo E8400 Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC. Thanks. I did just that, and I still have the issue.
Also, I can create folders in E, or inside any folder but E/Music and its sub-tree. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebrew OS Win7 64bit Home Premium CPU AMD 620 Motherboard Gigabyte 785 Memory 4GB Muskin @ 1600 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407HC Case Antec Hard Drives 2TB Samsung, 2x 1TB WD Green, 74GB Raptor |

Hello Gyrodec, and welcome to Seven Forums.
If you have not already, check to make sure that you also "Allowed" your user account "Full Control" of the folder to have access permission. Permissions - Allow or Deny Users and Groups
Hope this helps,

Hello Brink, and thanks for the welcome.
I wrote my post late last night and I forgot to add some of the obvious stuff. Yes, I personally have full control on the music folder, as doeas the administrator group and my login is also in the admin group. I can rename and delete folders and files just fine.
Also, I i try to move a folder into Music this is what happens: It starts, then I get the you need admin to do this and I click ok to do it, then I get a you need permissions to do this and it stops. However, the folder has been moved but is empty. If I take ownership of that new folder in Music, I can now copy the files into it. If there are any subfolders, like artwork for the album, I get the same process repeated all the way down the tree.
I didn't used to have this issue. I don't know exactly when it started so I can't guess what might have changed since the issue began. I don't reorganize my music folders very often so I didn't notice.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebrew OS Win7 64bit Home Premium CPU AMD 620 Motherboard Gigabyte 785 Memory 4GB Muskin @ 1600 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407HC Case Antec Hard Drives 2TB Samsung, 2x 1TB WD Green, 74GB Raptor |

As a test, you might create a new adminsitrator account to see if you have the same issue in it. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector

One of the permissions is set wrong on the Music folder, no doubt about it.
1) Rename the current Music folder to Music_Old
2) Create a new Music folder
3) Verify that you can create folders in the new Music folder.
4) Move everything from Music_Old to Music and delete Music_Old | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (Technet) CPU 3.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo E8400 Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC.
