    Partition help!

I tried to make a partition so I could install gOS, but I can't make a partition larger than 1MB for some reason. Can someone please help me out?

We need a little more info - what when where and how ... software used to make the partition, what OS where you making the partition with, or was it a boot DVD, what did the disk look like when you tried to make the partition, etc. etc.

    Hey ikilledkenny.

Go into Disk Management, and post a screenshot of it. You probably need to shrink your OS partition.

I only have 1 partition, and it's for the OS. I'll switch back into Windows and get a screeny up.

Is the partition taking up the whole drive? You will need to shrink the partition until you have enough for another OS.

That is not what I mean. You only have one drive there. So you need to shrink its partition from all 150 gigs (or w/e) down by at least 10gigs. This will give you the space you need.

You must have a file at the end of the partition thats preventing you from shrinking it more than 1 meg. Try defrag, and maybe it will move that file out of the way.

How much free space is on your partition?

There are free partitioning programs out there that should do a better job for you.

I hate that MS included this tool and made it near useless in your case. Its ridiculous that you have free space and yet can't shrink it more than a meg. WTH???
