cant use DVD & CD Rom drives

I recently had Windows 7 installed and now I can not use the DVD or CD drives. I have checked and the drives are installed and ok. I am using 32 bit. Also, I have NOD32 and Ariva anti virus plus Malware.

You need to post your system specs if you want advice relevant to your system.

When you say you have checked that the drives are installed, how many drives do you have, and how did you check?

When you press the button to open a drive, does it open?

When you place a disc in the drive drawer and close it, does it spin up?

Have you tried viewing the contents of a disc using Windows explorer?

I get the same results for DVD and CDs. Also with Explorer.
Drawers open, insert DVR or CD, drawers close and nothing spins

That is more or less impossible if device manager says that the drives are working properly. It is possible, but extremely unlikely that the drive motors in both drives have failed.

You say this problem only occurred after Windows 7 was installed?

You have used these drives before with another operating system installed?
