    Hotkey to shutdown immediately ?

    I've referred to Shut Down Windows Shortcut

    First time I did a hotkey, somehow it worked, BUT it asked me "What do you want the computer to do?"

    I wouldn't like it sitting on my desktop either. & now the hotkey is not working whatsoever. I'd like to just press the keys anytime anywhere so my PC will shut right down. Please assist

    Pressing the Windows key will take you directly to the start menu, and you can shut down there.

    There are various other key combinations which will shut down immediately, but whether they work correctly depends on how you have things set up.

    This is one;

    Press the Windows Key <Win> and then release it. Press the Right Arrow key < -> > . Now press <Enter>

    That's not a hotkey. That's 3 steps to shut down.

    These combinations are generally known as "Hotkeys".

    If you want to shut down using a single key press, then you have to program a key to do so.

    You can do it using autohotkey;

    AutoHotkey - Free Mouse and Keyboard Macro Program with Hotkeys and AutoText

    the command sequence required to shut down Windows immediately is ;

    Code:
    Shutdown.exe -s -t 00
    Using a single key to send this command sequence is not advisable, as there is too much chance of one hitting it accidentally.

    Have you tried holding down your winkey then pressing F4 > Enter....

    Alt + F4 closes any open window... By default

    Ctrl+Shift+N = Create new folder. That's a hotkey. Why of course I know Alt+F4.

    Alright, I will try & program two keys with that link there bud.

    Thanks much Mike Connor

    My pleasure.

    If you prefer it, you can save that command sequence as a batch file. Pressing the Icon will shutdown Windows immediately.

    I also see you don't need 00 you can just use 0 ,, -R (restart) ,, -I (Log off.)

    Just copy & paste mike's code in a shortcut on your desktop...
