Did it just change or has it always looked this way?

If it just changed, use System Restore to fix it.

You either have chosen a non aero scheme or your video card switched. Check you windows experience index and see what the number is for graphics.

Let us know what it is, and tell us what video card.

This could most likely be the case, anything dealing with new hardware to driver updates could cause the Aero scheme to disappear, it's windows' way of telling you that your WEI needs to be re-assessed.

Guys, he's not talking about Aero. Most likely he has switched to Windows Classic.

I refereed to that below. Windows classic (and others) are non aero schemes and it may be just that a video card reset caused the bump out. If he is using an integrated chipset it may just barely support aero.

Rightclick on an empty area of the desktop, select Personalize, then choose an Aero Theme to see if you get transparent window frames. If not, run type Aero in Start search box to troubleshoot aero.

If your GPU doesn't support Aero, go back to Personalize, scroll down and choose Windows 7 Basic theme instead of Windows classic (which is 2000, not even XP).
