    Files gone

Our windows 7 Home Premium was installed over Vista Home Premium and it is fooling around with files. Some of Our desktop shortcuts quit working, had to delete it and make a new one. This happened on two of our computers. My microsoft Flight Sim X has no mission files at all. I reinstalled it again from disks and still nothing, the program works fine other than that. My Microsoft train sim had to be reinstalled to work properly and now it crashes sometimes. On our third computer Windows 7 Home Premium over Windows XP, our Simply Accounting could not find a sdb. file that it made the day before. Any help

Hope fully you CAN still get the file u need back BUT it may take some time depending how big your drive is
you can use a FREE program call RECUVA, this is a simple program that can recuva deleted files from your recycle bin

when u delete a file from the recylcing bin or uninstall something it does not acutally delte the file, all this does is remvoe the path for the location to the file untill the same part of the HDD is rewritten in plain terms.
download RECUVA ( made by piriform)

follow the on screen options, it will ask for what type of files u want such as pitcutes music or other, in this case u will need other,

u WILL need to use deep scan in order for this to get the specific file back

THIS WLL TAKE ALONG TIME, so pleas dont expect instant miracles, it could take about 7-8 HOURS + for a 1TB harddrive but all i can say is good luck
hope u find it and hope this has resolved what u need

First mistake was installing 7 over Vista. Upgrades are inherently buggy. You are going to need to recover what you can (if anything) and do a clean install of Windows 7 before you are going to have any peace.

Upgrade installa have always been a mess. As was siad, a clean install is the solution - else you will loose a lot of time and accumulate plenty of frustration accomplishing nothing.
