taskbar won't lock

Have the taskbar set w/ auto-hide turned off and the taskbar locked but I can still move/rearrange my icons on the taskbar (left side of screen).

Anything I can do to truly lock the taskbar icons down?

It works that way by design, so the User can order the icons any way they desire. I am fairly certain there is no way to disable that feature.

Hmmm, I always thought that once you locked the taskbar, the icons were locked in place until you unlocked it.

If so, then what does locking/unlocking the taskbar do?

Maybe I'm wrong in my understanding of the feature.

I think locking the taskbar only prevents the User from dragging the taskbar to move it.

Carolyn is right when you lock the taskbar it just makes it so you cannot move it.

Taskbar lockdown

Yes, you can lock down the taskbar to keep it from disappearing. It's called Auto-hide:

- Do a search for Taskbar and Start Menu Properties.
- Click the Taskbar tab at upper left.
- Uncheck the Auto-hide the taskbar box.
- Click Apply or OK at the bottom and your taskbar is now set to remain on screen at all times.

Works for me in Windows 7 Home Premium Edition

I'm curious about the option "Lock the Taskbar". It is found by right-clicking on the taskbar. Taskbar doesn't hold lock
Solved: Currently on laptop; no problem here, but on my PC the Taskbar (Lock checked) doesn't hold its' locked size. I have "Autohide" enabled and I adjust the size to my liking. It stays that size for a while, but will revert to about half the width of my selection; which was slightly over an inch.
