Windows 7 - Cannot "save as" in Windows Explorer |

Cannot "save as" in Windows Explorer Just migrated from many happy years using XP, to a new Sony VAIO Y laptop with Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit preloaded.
The computer runs well, I setup my folders within My Documents.
(Even though I'm still very confused about Libraries )
Then I decided to delete one of the folders. After doing so, when I created a text file and attempted to "save as", I get an error message that says something to the effect, Location Unavailable, and it won't let me save the document.
After over an hour of Googling, going to the MS Win 7 site, I still could not find a solution or anything that addressed this "save as" situation.
Then it occurred to me, that there must be a Windows 7 forum so here I am
Just before composing this message, and again after doing a restart and fiddling around with everything I could think of, the problem went away and now I can "save as".
BUT.. I do not know what I did to fix the problem.
Any tips, suggestions or info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number 13.3" Sony VAIO Y OS Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 CPU 1.3 GHz C2D Memory 4 GB Monitor(s) Displays 13.3" Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 Hard Drives 320 GB @ 5400 RPM |

Thanks in Advance. Welcome to seven Forums vaioseven. First of all Libraries is a simple way to quickly go to a folder such as "Documents" The library holds nothing in and of itself, but is a shortcut to the true folder. You can add folders to any library you choose as well.
Did you try to "Save as" to a folder you deleted? If possible post a snip of your error. Snip how To This is the same for Windows7. How To upload a Screenshot to Seven Forums. Have a look through the Tutorials section too, many bright people have put instructions for a lot of things there. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Brittechnologies II OS Windows 7 Ultimate X86 SP1 CPU i5-2550K differing speeds depending on the day Motherboard ASUS P8X68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz, 4X4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans @1300 RPM Hard Drives TBA Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Other Info 5 fans, LG Bluray/R/RE, ASUS DVD/R/RW |

I'm at the airport responding from my Android phone, thus unable to send a screen shot.
I have all my files in folders nested within My Docs folder. In the process of setting up, I noticed one folder I created with only a few files inside.
I moved those out to another folder and deleted the old folder I will call "X". Then I created a text file and chose save as. A error message came up in front of the navigation window saying "folder X" is unavailable. Well of course as it was deleted. Why it would default to that is what surprised me. Normally one chooses "save as" then navigates to the folder you wish to file in. Yet repeatedly it would throw the same error message.
Finally something caused it to stop that pattern, and now it is back to normal. I should also mention it did the same thing a few days ago, but only once. In that case, the second time I attempted to save as, it was fine.
I will follow your suggestion to browse this forum as well, just in case my Google site search here, missed something. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number 13.3" Sony VAIO Y OS Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 CPU 1.3 GHz C2D Memory 4 GB Monitor(s) Displays 13.3" Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 Hard Drives 320 GB @ 5400 RPM |

Hello vaioseven. Welcome.
The 'Save as' dialog will default to the last location you saved to. If it can't find it (i.e., if it has been deleted, moved or renamed), it produces a 'location not found' error. It will continue to do this until you save to a new location. The next time you save a file, the save as dialog will open to the new location, which, still existing, will not produce the error.

James Wonderful!
That's exactly what's happening. What a relief to learn this, I was so baffled.
Thank You Very Much
