yeah another build...accidently 7600...
whether this is the RTM or not the dude on the comment is right.
"a MS guy told me so"
Thats my site, i meant the person quoted text in my blog. Read first la.
Here it is
Source : Is Windows 7 finished? Apparently not | TechBlog | Chron.com - Houston ChronicleA Microsoft spokesman told me this afternoon that no, a final build has not been declared for Windows 7, and it has not been released to manufacturing.
Before people get too excited, you should remember what happened with Vista:
6000.16384 <-- NOT RTM
6000.16385 <-- NOT RTM
6000.16386 <-- RTM
Just because it's 7600, it doesn't mean that it's RTM. Microsoft may end up doing multiple iterations of 7600 as it did with Vista's 6000. Or it may just go with the first build in 7600.
7600 are the true candidates for RTM (all that crap from a certain unnamed Russian site about the RTM branch builds being candidates from RTM that then get renamed or "voted" on is total BS). In other words, as a true candidate, this has the final activation code, and no expiration and it might be RTM. If 16384 is signed off as RTM, then it will become RTM. If it's not signed off as RTM, then there might be a 16385, 16386, 16387, etc. until one of them is signed off as RTM.
(For people not familiar with powers of 2, it may not be obvious that 16384 is a power of 2 and is thus a nice round number--0x4000--in hex, and so 16384 is just the first of the 7600 candidates, and it may or may not be the final 7600 candidate.)
What happened with Vista, and what could happen here (as WZOR said), is that development was finished but "assembling" let's say the "distribution" was not. So you can be sure that Windows 7 will ship with 7600 code, as Vista shipped with 6000, but maybe a slightly different driverset for example.
Are you really gonna take a Microsoft spokesperson's word for it? I know, that sounds ridiculous, but someone at Microsoft isn't going to freely admit that a leaked 7600 build is the RTM.
"Hey MS, there's this new build out, 7600, that's quite the jump, is this the RTM?"
"Yeah, it is, so it leaked already? Lulz"
I believe that "MS guy" as much as I believe in the sleepy Chinese guy who likes to rar up an iso and upload some of the parts. I laughed when someone said they called MS in Germany to verify. Like that person working for "MS Help Desk" would even know anything about builds.
I believe that everyone is just getting out of control and everyone wants to be the first to say "I have the RTM" or "I created a thread with 100K hits"
I don't believe any of the leads right now. It will be out soon, but from somewhere not even mentioned yet. I am hoping MS releases it tomorrow like a lot of rumors said.
