    I deleted srvany.exe by mistake

I deleted srvany.exe by mistake. Does anyone know what I can do to undo my Mistake.

I got a virus, and noticed that the virus was running in Services. Start-up tab gave me the full path, which ended at srvany.exe. I did not know that srvany.exe can be used randomly to run as service. I thought it was part of the virus, and I deleted it. Does any one know what I can do to get srvany.exe back?

You could try running the command below in a elevated command. This usually fixes broken/missing windows system files. Give it a try and report back.

    sfc /scannow

I'm not finding a "srvany.exe" residing within Windows. If it was part or essential to Windows it would be in WinSXS. I'm guessing the virus brought "srvany.exe" along for its own purpose. Otherwise you would need to install Windows NT Resource Kit.

logicearth is correct! (kinda logical, isn't it omen est nomen like the old latins used to say)
Windows 7 doesn't have a srvany.exe. It's used (in connection with INSTSRV.EXE to run any EXE program as a service (in the worst case even before your anti virus kicks in gear). So chances are, it came in the viruses carry on luggage
Be glad it's gone and don't worry about it anymore.
If you really want it back the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools would be your best bet.

I did indeed run 'Scannow' as soon as my researched intimated that Srvany.exe is a legitimate Windows utility used to run normal program as service. It became obvious to me, then, that the virus commandeered a legit untility. After running "Scannow" I did not get any feed back whether my deletion was undone or not.

Meanwhile, the only thing wrong with my system since I deleted Srvany.exe is that online videos now buffer endlessly. They used to play smoothly. I don't know if my deletion has anything to do with it.

I checked out Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools. Srvany.exe utility is included. However, if I downloaded Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools, I would not know what to do with it.

Like I said, my system still runs great; the only thing amiss is that since I deleted Srvany.exe, online videos now buffer endlessly. They used to play smoothly. I don't know if my deletion has anything to do with it.
