Why no universal menus in windows 7?

One of the the biggest problems I have with windows X is that for some reason they never seem to use a universal explorer window for opening or saving apps.

Let me explain sure if you launch explorer you get a nice windows that you can customize. However in certain programs when you do a save or open function you get the old windows menu that excludes the explorer interface and you have to dig through menus to find paths you setup.

Does anyone know of a way to make these all the same Explorer setup?

I hope im explaining it so you all can understand.

The only way to do this would be to update the programs in question. The "problem" comes in because a program was written to use the old-style (Windows 9x era) common dialogs, instead of being adapted to the newer styles presented in Windows XP and later Windows Vista. Application developers do this to maintain compatibility with as many versions of windows as possible.

To summarize: The only way to "fix" this is to update the applications/utilities in question to newer versions that know about the newer style dialogs.
