"there was a problem sending the command to the program" Hello all. I realise this topic has become a feature. My symptoms seem to be slightly different. It started a week or so ago and what's happened is that none of the my applications via shortcut or via direct EXE (includiing office, games, system applications etc.. unless it's already part of the 'Windows start up routine"). I've started using Comodo Firewall about a month or so ago and I recently obtained the Motorola Atrix (Android) and I think (it's a big assumption) that when i connected it to the laptop and sync'd it started going funny - however I have done a system restore and it workd well but it's started again and it comes and goes if restart (bit of a lottery!)
several weeks ago I did clean out my system when I was infected with the 'google redirect virus' and underwent a comprehensive clean up which did solve the problem - hence the comodo installation.
ideas folks?

FYI, if you are using a router at home, you do not need a software firewall. In fact, it basically has nothing to do since all ports are grabbed by the router, not the PC. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (Technet) CPU 3.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo E8400 Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC. It's always handy whenever you connect to public wi-fi and client offices - plus my BT Home Hub doesn't have much of a pre-configured firewall (as far as i'm aware) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Latitude E5500 OS Windows 7 Professional 32bit CPU Inter Core 2 Duo P8700 2.5GHz Motherboard Onboard Laptop Motherboard (Dell) Memory 4GB |

Looks like you have two anti-virus applications running....McAfee and Comodo.
Did you download and install McAfee Security Scan Plus, or did it come bundled with an update for Adobe Reader? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Bruce ... somewhere in his 40's OS Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit SP1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2400 MHz Motherboard INTEL/D975XBX2 Memory 4 GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 914v Screen Resolution 1280 x 1024 Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse Microsoft PS/2 Mouse PSU Rocketfish 700 W Case G.Skill Gigabyte Chassis Hard Drives 2/500GB each ... NOTE: not all routers have a bult-in firewall. You definitely need a software firewall in addition to the 2nd string hardware one, if your router has one. I have got a virus during an install of XP a couple years ago and the PC WAS connected to a hardware firewall through my router, Linksys BEFSX41. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Widodude use only one Active AV product at any time. Most of them don't work and play well together.
