Problem involving repeating keystrokes

I have an unusual problem and I can't find any answer on it anywhere. Nothing even remotely the same. A few days ago my PC started acting weird.. and I believe the cause involves keystrokes. When I boot up and go to type my password in (always the first keystroke) it doesn't register and it seems the password box just keeps repeating an enter command over and over until I hit a second keystroke and it will stop and I can type normally. The same goes with Firefox. I open up Firefox and always the first keystroke whether it's in the URL form, Google Search, etc.. will automatically be 'searched' for repeating. For example, if I went to type in Google in the address bar, it would not register and instantly as soon as I hit the first "w" the Firefox search bar on the bottom opens up searching for "w" repeatedly. Once I hit the second keystroke it will stop and I will be able to type normally again. Usually this happens only the first time I open a new Firefox window every time though. I haven't checked it out with other programs yet, but I believe since it's doing the same thing in the Windows user screen and then also Firefox it has to be a problem not just to one program.

I checked Sticky Keys, made sure they are off.
Ran all my anti-spyware/malware programs.
Full scan in AVG. No problems.

This started about 2 days ago. I haven't really installed anything other than a game and a few torrents. And I uninstalled the game anyway.

Hopefully someone can understand or has seen this before and knows of a solution because I am stumped and getting very annoyed.

Also, I have thought about doing a system restore back 2 days which I don't mind, but I am only seeing restore points from today 5/17 when I uninstalled that game and updated AVG. Other than that, there is nothing a few days back. And yes I checked off "More Restore Points".

Check the keyboard itself, to see if there is a stuck key.

Yea already did that. I just took my transmitter out of the USB and checked my keyboard and when I put it back in and went to type this response, same thing happened.

so your using a wireless keyboard, this could be the issue.

Some wireless keyboards drop into low power mode after a short idle and you have to wake them up by pressing keys, this may become more noticable when the batteries are running low. Try a wired keyboard or new batteries and see if this sorts it.

Or try double tapping shift before you start typing.

Do you have another keyboard that you can substitute for it for testing purposes?

If it is Logitech and you are using the Logitech Setpoint software- welcome to the club.
Mine would run on as yours or not type then go for a run until I hit another key.

The only way I fixed the Logitech problem was to uninstall the software. Then uninstall the Logitech driver in Device Manager.
Windows hardware wizard then installed a Windows HID driver and everything works fine now.

No more Logitech drivers/software for me.

My wireless set up is Logitech, but I don't use Setpoint. Mine are Windows HID drivers. Also, I doubt that's the issue because I have been running it fine for months now then all of a sudden?

I plugged in an old USB Keyboard (Logitech) and so far nothing. So far, I really like the battery idea someone posted above. I haven't changed batteries on my wireless keyboard since I got it. I'll re-boot and see if it does it in the User screen, at least if it doesn't it's the actual keyboard, most likely the batteries. I am hoping for that at least.

I found out the hard way that a Logitech wireless keyboard and a Microsoft wired mouse did not get on at all.

It's a Microsoft combo pack every time for me now.

However, failing batteries can cause problems whichever make of wireless keyboard you're using.
