I accidentaly MERGED Windows XP and Windows 7

Until yesterday i had Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Then i decided to switch to Windows XP. And it seems that when i have installed XP, the Windows, Program Files etc. folders have merged. Both Windows 7 AND Windows XP work fine. Should i expect any difficulties using XP. I do NOT want to use the Windows 7 which was already installed and there is no sense in the Windows directory being 19 Gigabytes. How can I... split them or something? Oh, and I am having problems installing .NET Framework on XP. I can play some DirectX 9 games and other things tho. I forgot to say that in Windows XP the My Computer icon uses the My Documents in Windows 7 one. The main thing i want to resolve is the .NET problem.

If you're not going to use Win7 anymore I would recommend backing up any files you need and installing Windows XP fresh, with a full format of the hard drive.

Were you prompted XP installer was going to overwrite the Windows folder? I believe this happens when the installer isn't booted and there are no other drives seen..

Best to clean reinstall from booted XP installer, deleting existing, repartioning with a full format.

Thanks for the replies. I did install XP from a bootable device (a DVD) but it didn't prompt me to overwrite the windows folder. Here's a photo of C: as you requested.
