Copy old Favorites from old drive to Windows 7 drive?

Good evening

This is very frustrating now...Yes, I know its because of my lack of knowledge about Windows 7 and security/permission rules and settings. But still.

Hopefully someone is kind enough to help me out a bit here and maybe Ill understand better (hopefully)

Ive just installed Win7 and this is what I want to do:
Copy my old Favorites-folder (Win Explorer 8) from the old harddrive to my new folder in Win 7.

I had some problems accessing my old folder in My Documents on the old harddrive but i changed permission and ownership and finally I could access it and copy the folder. But. It seems impossible to copy it into c:\Users\xxxxx\Favorites
It just says "Youll need to provide administrator permission to copy this folder"

Ive disabled the built in admin account and tried every fix Ive found but I still receive the same message. How can I fix this??? Seems like a simple thing to do but i just cant get it to work.

Hello Tom,

Are you doing this from within an administrator account?

If so, then are you allowed to apply permission to have them copied into that folder?

If not, try copying them to the desktop, then to the Favorites folder.

Hope this helps,

You are probably better off using the Export / Import Bookmarks & Cookies function in IE. That's worked great for me. It creates a file for bookmarks and another for cookies (if selected) in your My Documents folder by default. I run the Export in my source system, copy the two files to the My Docs folder in the new system, and run the Import function from the new system's IE. Unfortunately any special bookmark order is lost, but I can easily live with that.
