Oh, did I mention that this only happens when trying to rename/move a folder, not an individual file?
In that case, you might give this one last item a try to download and merge the Folder option in the tutorial below to see if it may help. It will restore all of the default associations for folders.

yes i did try a disk check as well, but it didnt work...but luckily my problem is fixed, i called microsoft support and for some reason they connected me to guruaid.com's number and the guy remotely linked to my laptop and added some registry files into my registry titled "folder description" and after a reboot, i no longer have this problem. I asked him what went wrong and what he did to fix it but his english was so bad that it was impossible to have that conversation. If anyone is interested in what files he installed into my registry, I can email them to you.

I dont want to sound like a promo, but this seems to be a decent site, the guy didnt ask me a bunch of dumb questions, he went right to it as if he already knew the problem and did it quickly and without being annoying...it wasnt cheap though. But you get what you pay for

That's great news. I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted. :)

Just remember though, what may seem like dumb questions to you are actually to try and determine what the exact cause or situation of the issue may be since we are not sitting in front of or remoting into your computer.

Hi DeemSLeep it could be helpfull for others if you could upload the files, and where placed, in a reply. Glad you got it fixed.
