Win 7 Ultimate 32bit

Ok I see.

Always best to run Mem Diags over night.

I would also run at least Eset Online Scanner

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1 x64

How about getting/creating a Boot CD with malware scanners.

I have no experience of this so cannot advise further, but I have seen forums where this is practised.

64-bit Windows 10 Pro

Hello Reshe, and welcome to Seven Forums.

See if downloading and merging the exe and lnk (LNK) options in the tutorial below from here instead may work better for you. They will restore the default associations for these file extensions.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

Hope this helps,

Windows 7 Ultimate x86

Happened to me 2 times.
Number one was when i was installing a program and my PC suddenly crashed aborting the Installation. Next time i tried to start it it was all messed up and no .exe file was ready to open.
2nd was when i got infected by a Virus apparently a RAT(Remote Administration Tool), in this case no exe file would open. Then i did a scan from Avira's Rescue CD and removed the virus.
So everything was normal, I recommend having a DEEP SCAN of each of your HDD's and completing any left over installations.

Hope it helps

Another way to open ISO files
If you occasionally have to open ISO files, but don't want to download a third party problem (certainly not one called demon or devil or whatever), here's one way to do it: in XP Mode, one of the options is to mount an ISO image rather than the CD-ROM drive at startup.
