Any way to get the folder size to show in details?

I see that the size of a file is displayed when in "Details" mode. But when I am looking at a folder filled with dozens of subfolders, no file size is listed. Is there a way to change this?

Sizes are only listed for files, not for folders. But if you hover the cursor over the folder, it will tell you the size.

You probably wouldn't enjoy the results of what you want. Consistently showing a recursive size for folders with modern drive capacities has the potential to be horribly slow.

Calculating 408MB in 66,069 Files, 45,692 Folders for the properties tab of one folder on my data drive takes over 10 seconds.

I'd rather that amount of CPU & disk time only happened when I actually ask for the information.

Try something like WinDirStat or SpaceSniffer on an entire drive and see for yourself how much effort would be expended in calculating those numbers to show in explorer.

You can hover, or right click and hit properties.

There is a pretty nice (and "free" :)) utility called Folder Size - it is pretty informative.
