There's several methods to fix this
Default File Type Associations - Restore
(just scroll down to the exe link)

Default Programs - Associate a File Type or Protocol

Are the first two that come to mind.

The only problem now is that files show up with a page and a picture of a java thingy in it.

Or --- you could go into Windows Explorer, right-click on any of those .exe files and select Open With. In the menu that opens up, click on "Choose default program" and select the program you actually want to use to open those .exe files. At the bottom of the screen be sure to check: "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."

Ummmm, no....you can't do that with an .exe file. There is no "program" to open them with. It's a registry fix only for .exe files.

Thanks MacGyvr, my bad. I stand corrected. I always thought that .exe files were 'executory' files that executed apps/prgrams.
