    Corruption


    Friends,
    All my applications have been converted to adobe reader documents.
    Whenever i try to open google chrome adobe reader gets opened.
    Same thing happens with all other apps except windows explorer.
    Icons of all applications have got changed to adobe reader's icon

    Thanks a lot for reply.
    I was hopeless and was about to format my computer.
    I thought that this had happened due to some virus.

    But yet there is a problem. The file opens but default icon has not been displayed.

    This problem started today morning. I had left my computer open whole night because a movie was being downloaded. From today morning my computer my computer takes a lot of time to shut down

    If one or more of your icons are not displaying correctly, or that your icon cache is corrupted, then you might consider rebuilding the icon cache to reset and reload the icon images into the icon cache.

    Since your problem occurred so recently, why don't you first do a System Restore? That will probably correct the corruption, but if it doesn't, you can still rebuild your icon cache and try other attempts at correction.

    Wow it worked. Thanks a lot. Instead of asking user to download .REG file individually and installing it, why dont you make a separate program to fix all these related problems.
    Or if you are member of micorsoft windows you can also make it one of the routines of O/S
