Windows 7: WMI Repository corruption

WMI Repository corruption

I've a dell precision T7500 that runs windows 7 x64 professional. Every few days the WMI repository gets corrupted and the memory usage of winmgmt (under svchost) goes over 1.5 Gb. The system becomes very sluggish. If the system is rebooted while connected to the network (domain) the system will not come up and will stay at please wait forever.

I've done fresh installs twice, this is on my work computer that connects to a domain and reinstalling is absolutely not an option anymore.

The system has two quad core E5520 Xeons at 2.27Ghz, 4Gb of Ram and runs a 15000 RPM SCSI hard disk. It also has a NVIDIA Quatro NVS 420 256Mb onboard memory.

I had a job that ran every sunday winmgmt /salvagerepository to correct the repository. This would take about 12 hours to run.

Installed SP1 and a bunch of windows updates as well a hotfix that claims to fix this specific issue. The problem has only become worse. Has anyone seen this problem before? if so what fixed it?

Thanks and appreciate all your time.
