Making the European letter " è " capitalized?

    Hi everyone,

I own a laptop (no numerical keypad on the right) with 32 bit Windows 7 professional.

I have both the English and Italian keyboard installed. (I switch between the languages using ctrl + shift)

When typing in Italian, I sometimes need ' è ' to be capitalized. How can I accomplish this?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    You could use Character map (start\all programs\accessories\system tools\: È

And you could make a macro out of it, using hotkeys to paste it into your document.

Thanks for the quick response James.

I searched how to create a macro key and found this from Microsoft

Assign macro or function to keys on your keyboard

However, they want me to download some software. A lot of the other webpages didt seem to fit what I needed.

Is there way a simple way to change the keyboard to have È instead of another key? (ie + or - symbol)?

Keystroke, Alt+0200, È. Or Remapping you keyboard. This says for Vista, but I reckon it will work for 7 as well.

    The CM keystroke is alt+0201.

If you are using MS word 2010, you can create it from within word, or check your word processor for this capability:

    Create Macros In Word 2010

There are 3rd party programs that will create and save macros. You can find many in google.

I find the easiest way to type accents on letters is to install the International US keyboard.

This can be done by going into Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Keyboards and Languages tab -> click Change Keyboards -> add the United States-International keyboard.

To type the ` on top of any character (È,è,etc.), type ` (the key to the left of 1) and then the vowel.

To type the accent aigu on top of any character (é, É, etc.), type ' '' (the single/double quote key) then the vowel.

When you want to type single or double quotes, you will now have to type the ' " (single/double quote key) and then the space bar, or just hit the '' key a couple of times.
