Windows 7: Install from USB Key

ive made my USB install device and it works well, thanks for guide!



im wondering if it possible to add a folder for some of my personal data, will it interfere or will it be ok?

its because 7 is 3gb and my USB is 16GB, so its kinda wasted.

This is exactly what i do.
All my windows installs now come off a 8GB SD card. I just replace all the relevant folders and files, depending on what build/version im installing.
I also have a My Stuff folder that has my AV, Firefox, Newsleecher, Office 2003, passwords etc in it.

No problems what so ever IME. And its so much quicker than using a DVD.

Yeah, i originally did it because my netbook doesn't have a DVD drive but it does have some SD slots. And i have a few good SDHC cards lying around.
when i first saw how quickly Windows 7 installed (11mins) i thought this was a much better way of doing things and now i use it for all my Pc's.
I keep adding to the My stuff folder as well so it helps keep the apps all up to date.

ive just checked and my class 4 kingston SDHC has read speed of 20mbps, that must be why install is so fast
