Getting lost in the 'leak' madness

Over the last few days, and even the upcoming week or so, there has been SO much focus on leaked RTM builds that it looks like the end is near.

There are a few questions floating around in everyones head (even mine)...

1, What does this mean for a lot of members here?

2, What will happen to a great many members once thay have the final RTM?

3, Will the level of activity on 'leak' threads be 'transferred' to other threads?

I shall answer these as best I can

1, A lot of members will finally be running Windows 7 *version* RTM, when it's 'released' and be very very happy with it.

2, A lot of members may very well disappear into the ether, once they have the RTM. Thus reducing the amount of active users. This is sad but inevetably it's bound to happen.

3, Hopefully, those that have the Final RTM will then be able to concentrate their efforts on doing what made this site great in the first place, helping/advising or requesting help/advice.

There will always be issues to solve, problems to fix and news/information to give. If we all knew everything about PCs & Windows 7 then we would only have a 'Chillout Zone' in this forum. I for 1 will continue to give help & advice as much as I can, even after Windows 7 has been on the shelves for years

Also, I would just like to give a big to all the Mods for keeping this site clean of spam and crap and to John & Shawn for creating this site & making it the best site for all your Windows 7 needs. Lastly, to all the members (old or new), without who, a lot of answers & questions may go unanswered.

Well, that's my bit done....just where did I leave that leaked DVD

I think that I will get bored of RTM pretty quick considering how I have been accustomed to being here and doing so many installations.

I'm not going anywhere soon. Bring on the Windows 7 SP1 leaks !

Well honestly while Im still a newer member. I plan on sticking around here. Like Ive said before this is the most freindly and helpful website I have ever seen. Honestly.

No system Bashing, no haters, just people actually helping others when their is no one forcing them or telling them F-Off N00b..

As for people leaving that's fine, those who stay are dedicated to helping what the forum has setup as guidelines, and their will be plenty of ways for us all to learn from each-other.

I recommend two things to keep the site going.

#1. Force on-topic discussions. People seem to fork the conversation in a thread for example if the topic is a release RTM thread (cough) (cough) somehow the discussion becomes about gay lovers, or finicial issues. Instead of staying on topic. 10,000 posts to read through when half are way off topic is a bit crappy to deal with.

#2. Start a forum for clinics. How-To's pick a topic per week or day start with some basic's of WIndows 7 since all of us are not on the same technical level and say today we discuss ways to do X.. Demonstrate it, show the programs you use, and let others add to it or discuss alternative ways to do it. Example how to properly setup an SSH connection on windows 7 to allow your to browse the internet from work etc...

Otherwise im 100% happy here and I visit here more than my own website right now :) thats saying alot :)

It's just really nice to be able to ask everything without being flamed at, great forum and i plan to stay here and help as much as i can :)

And I think that is a very good idea:

like this there are some win7 howtos and we all can discuss about what different ways exist to reach a certain goal etc etc :)

I too am a newbie and will stick around also. I have bookmarked several windows 7 sites and this one seem to have the most activity / available knowledgeable and always seems to be the first one that I visit. I am running the RC version and haven't participated in the RTM madness, I just like coming here to learn about 7.

    Not going anywhere
