    Why do some desktop icons keeping shrinking?


    For some unknown reason, a couple of my desktop icons keep shrinking. When I started up my notebook this morning, AGAIN another icon shrunk. This happens even when I haven't started anything---I just signed on to Windows.

    I've attached two jpg's. The first is a snapshot of my desktop icons before I signed on this morning, the second is after.

    P.S. The icon come from the file located in C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll

    Anyone else having this problem?

    Hello Jerry,

    You might see if rebuilding the icon cache may help if it had gotten corrupted.

So here's my issue. On my VPS (Windows Server 2008 R2), I'm trying to run a script which needs a GUI. So when I'm logged in through Remote Desktop, the program works fine. However - once I log out, the desktop is gone, so it no longer works. I've got it setup so that the programs continue to run...

So I run Battlefield 1942. It doesn't let me use 1280x1024 resolution, nor do I want it to. Very frequently, when I close out the game, all my icons are way out of place and it's really aggravating. Is there a way to prevent my stuff from moving around ?
Is there a way to stop used program's icons to pop up in the start menu? I have icons that I have pinned to the start menu but whenever you use a program that is not listed its icon is placed there and i have to remove it manually. How do I prevent this? Thanks
