    The Error message says.

Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose.

    Hide Details Diagnose Cancel

The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist, or the network provider is not currently available. Please try retyping the path or contact your network administrator."

And when I click "Diagnose" I get the following message

    "An error occurred

It sounds like it is trying to look for a network drive of some sort for your system - try running a Startup Repair from the DVD

We have the same problem at my wifes computer: after a reboot all services fail, no access to the drives, basically everything fails with the access error 0x80070005.

    Startup Repair did not help.
Cannot access System Restore (or any other services) in Safe Mode either.
Rebooting last working configuration does not work either.

Only change we could think of was unplugging an USB drive without safely removing it first.

two hours earlier we swapped graphics adapters (from a 9600 GT 512 to a 9600 GT 1024) and used windows update to update the drivers, but system rebooted fine after this.

    rather puzzled here, any ideas?

    thx in advance

This is what MS has to say about your error:
You may experience various problems after you install the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-051 for COM+ and MS DTC

You may also need ro re-activate your product key

no security updates were installed. and, even if i wanted to follow the steps in the advisory, i cant, since i cant access %windir% to check the security settings of CLB files. i get access denied when trying to access anything outside C:\Users\<currentuser>

EDiT: after hours of reading forums, advisories, IRC channels and skype-conferencing with IT guys, i resorted to the ugly solution: fresh install.

without a solution, or any idea what might have caused this issue, i just hope it will not happen again.

Could you be a bit more specific abt the problem. error codes?, 32 or 64 bit. and anything else you can think of
