I have an administrator user login account and a standard login account. When I try to login to the administrator, it just hangs and I have to reboot. I can login to my standard account just fine however. What gives?

Can you log in to the administrator account in safe mode? If so then it may be a startup item that is causing the hang so I would compare the startup items between the administrator account and the standard account.

    pglufkin,
Can you log into the built-in administrator account?

    Is that account enabled?

In the tutorial section are several tutorials related to the use, enabling, and disabling of the built-in administrator account.

Yes, it will revert system changes. It sounds like it could be a corrupt service causing the hang on a login. If you just installed Adobe Illustrator then I would try a system restore. If it fixes your problem then try reinstalling the program to see if it will work this time. It could have just been something that went wrong when it was installed. If it doesn't fix it then you could even undo the system restore.

I get an access denied on all the methods I have tried to access the built-in administrator account.
