seems to be a problem with 7600.16385.090713-1255_x86

I seem to be finding a problem with build 7600.16385.090713-1255_x86 on my Acer laptop that i have never had before with any build.
it seems to be with Windows Media Player network sharing service.
all parts of this service seems to be using almost 100% of system resources.
The only way I can solve this problem is to disable the process. Trouble is Media player will not run without crashing. i have insalled the build twice but still getting the same problem.

I am sure I can't be the only one getting this problem.

Update: the problem seems to be caused by wmpnetwk.exe, it seems to constanly be running at 50% processor usage. If I stop network sharing service then all is fine.

Wow 453 views but not one reply. Must be just me getting this problem then. Strange, never had anything like it before with any build.

Sorry to hear that. No problem here on x64. Can you use a different player?

That's a very strange error you have there

Not experience anything like that even in 7000. Was it an upgrade?

One of the first things I do after a clean install is disable that sucker, not because it didn't work properly but because I have no use for it. I've never seen it do that. Did you try stopping it (in the Services console, not killing it in the task mgr), disabling it then re-enabling it and re-booting? Systems, like their masters, can sometimes be fickle .

Edit: Wow, nothing for a day then everybody woke up .

First WMP runs fine on 32bit without the sharing service running (see snip) and what you can do is to put the sharing service to start manualy so that the only time its running is when WMP is.

Its a workaround but it works

Yeah that is what I have done except I have not changed to manual, I just left it disabled but all works ok like that, I have better processor usage now than i have ever had, so maybe there has always been a slight speed hit because of this.

Thanks all though for the suggestions. Think I might have a fiddle now with the manual thing.

Just one thing ZigZag have you seen this before, as I have never?

Yeah i had this exact problem, i ended up disabling it. Perhaps installing a later build as i have not had this issue since i got one of the last few builds to leak

Absolutely. One of the fisrt things I do after an install is to kill all the un-needed services. win 7 32 bit runs 50+ after a little blackviper help 37 and its quicker and uses less ram. Another of my favorites is Norton Ghost.
