Win 7: Folders, Dragging/Dropping/Copying and Taskbar Issues

I noticed this about a 4 days ago...

If I went to download a file, it wouldn't let me save it - it was grayed out.

Last night, I was trying to write a data DVD w/some files on it, and I couldn't drag/drop files into the window of CDBurnerXP. It also wouldn't let me add them, thru the program menu.

I also discovered that the drag/copy function wouldn't work, between folders.

Cut/paste works fine.

Also, the Windows 7 taskbar at the bottom of the screen is non-functional at bootup, but if I go to task manager and quit explorer.exe and then run it again it comes back.

Actually, just opening Task Manager brings it back.

Browser windows for all programs are also acting funny - not being able to close them and such.

If I need to fill out a form online, I can't select from a dropdown menu.

I did a Malware and MS Security scan, in safe mode, and ran scf/scannow in admin mode, w/no joy.

Any clues? I haven't found anything about this thru Googling.

Thanks in advance!

Could you do a system restore, if not run the windows 7 cd and do the repair option.

I've done the system restore, to 3 separate points before the problem started, w/no luck.

If I run the Windows CD, will I lose all my programs/files?

Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forums

Running a repair from the boot DVD will not harm any files/programs already on the computer.

You may wish to try the SFC /SCANNOW option to see if it pickes up any errors.

Hi - this forum seems to have a ton of ifo!

I did the scf/verify thing, it first verified errors.

Then I did scf/scannow and it said it fixed things, but the problem is still there.

I ran it in Admin Mode, but the computer wasn't in "Safe with Networking" mode, just the regular boot.
