Documents reappearing using Seagate External Et al, I utilize Windows7 Home Premium 32-bit and a 500gb SeaGate FreeAgent external. Similarly, I have on numerous occassion deleted files and done some cleaning-up (primarily 'My Documents') to no real success because they all come back after having attached my external. NOTE: I do not perform a Back-up /or/ Sync anything. I simply connect my external via USB in order to locate a saved document already on the external from previous. This is all I do and at some point (not sure if it is after the next reboot or when exactly) but, all deleted docs reappear. I wanted to let this be known to all of you as previous posts had mentioned back-up and/or syncing, however, I wanted to clarify that I do not do EITHER of these and have the same problem. STILL NO SOLUTION | My System Specs |

I would try a backup software other than Seagate's. Unfortunately, Windows Backup and Restore is only available in Windows 7 Pro and above. There are free versions of most backup/imaging software, but I don't know of any that will back up files (they will back up entire partitions). Their paid versions, however, do.
Backing up the entire partition is a great way to backup, IMO if you have the disk space (an external drive is perfect). Here is a free version of an oft recommended imaging program: Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download
If you wish to back up at the file level, you will need to pay for a full version of Macrium or another software. I use and am happy with Acronis True Image 2011. | My System Specs | | OS Win7U 64 RTM CPU Q9550 Motherboard GA-EP45-UD3R Memory 8GB Gskill Graphics Card ASUS|EAH4850/HTDI/1GD3/A Sound Card xfi Plat Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2405fpw Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Keyboard MS Natural Ergonomic 4000 Mouse Logitech MX610 USB Cordless PSU Antec Case Antec Hard Drives Seagate & WD sata Drives |

Easy solution. Use CCleaner to securely overwrite the recycle bin, and as stated make sure you are deleting the actual file, not a pointer to them. CCleaner link in my sig.
After doing this if the files reappear, then you didn't delete the file. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

I have 2 Seagate freeagent goflex drives. They come with Memo backup software preinstalled that automatically syncs the drive. It is the worse program I have ever seen. I reformatted both drives to remove it. I use Microsoft Synctoy to backup user folders, and it works well. I use Free Macrium to image. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built- Always under construction OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64/ linux in VM CPU Intel i7-3770K Motherboard Asus Maximus V Extreme Z77 Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3-2400 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GTX 670 SC 4GB Sound Card On Board Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500 PSU CORSAIR AX850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Custom Water Cooling Hard Drives Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 830 256GB, Samsung HD103SJ 1TB .
