    Removing ghost entry from systray

This one has me perplexed. Over the weekend I switched from nod32 to avast. Long story. Anyhow I managed to uninstall nod32 with no help from them I might ad and install Avast. All seemed good in the world. Except when I checked in the new 7 systray collecter bar thingy (it's early) ...there was an entry under hide icon, show icon, etc. for egui.exe I have scraped the registry. Every aspect of my system. Even the vista partition. Nothing is there.
Anyone know how to remove this thing? Sure I can just choose to not show it but I could never live knowing it's there. Lurking.
    Thanks for any help,
    J23

Go to the below registry key and delete IconStreams and PastIconStream

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify

You may need to reconfigure any settings you have though

You may need to reconfig your preferences on what icons to show or hide.

    Hello J23,

Resetting the notification area icons should get rid of this old icon for you.

    Hope this helps,

Once I have done that and it was gone. I have another problem, so I install the antivirus again and uninstall it. Now the egui.exe is there. It will not goe away on the notification icon.
