    My Laptop Memory

I feel that my laptop get an amnesia each time I shut it down i.e.: Word has a memory for 17 recent opened files but with me when I open a file or more even when I pin it in the recent documents list then I close the files and shut down the Laptop and I turn it on I find the word list empty with no recent document. The same goes with directory when I save a file in a certain directory when I save another file I open the directory I find it rest and I have to open it all over again. My Lap is sony Vaio VPCEB46FA with windows 7 home premium 64 Bit and 4 GB memory. Can it be caused by the virtual memory.

Click File then Recent. In the list of files on the left pain, there's a Pin to the right of the file name. If you want to keep the file as an MRU (Most Recently Used), click the pin. The same works for the right pane for locations. To remove either from the MRU list at shutdown, click the pin again.

I see that now, sorry. Have you been making any chages to the Registry? Also, what antivirus software are you using? There may be an option there to delete the MRUs.

The normal MRU list for Word is 25 for both files and locations. If you're saying yours is 17, something changed. I don't use Norton so I don't know it. Is there an option to delete MRUs in Norton?

I know word 2007 very well and its normal MRU is 17 so I didn't change anything and for the antivirus I don't think it's the problem because this problem existed since I bought my Lap with the trial MCafee then when it ended I bought Norton 1 year subscription.

When you installed Norton, did you uninstall McAfee first?

Do you have anything like Disk Cleanup, CCleaner, etc scheduled to run at shutdown or immediately at startup that could be clearing out your history?
