Can't type ' " ` symbols as used to. Can that be changed

Hello I have one issue with keyboard on Windows 7. In earlier versions of windows (namely XP) if you press " or ' on American keyboard layout, you see " or ' now it wouldn't do anything until You press next key, in which case either " and the key recently pressed is printed, " is printed if you press space and sometimes characters like á à ì è emerges and that is a serious problem with passwords and really bugs when programming since in the programming lots of ' " ` symbols are involved. Is there a way to get the keyboard work as earlier and how would I do that? Sorry if there is already a post in the forum with similar topic, because searching information about symbols related problems are hard since ` " and ' is not much of a keyword.

Try going to "Region and Language" in the control panel. make sure your keyboard is setup as such:

Yes, it is. Yet, still doesn't print ' as soon as I press ' key. I had to press space after every ' while writing this message. Doesn't work.

Hi JohnSmith777, welcome to the Seven Forums.

What you describe is how keyboard layout US International works. Remove US International and replace it with US and you issue should be gone.

Here a bit more about the difference between these two US layouts and how to add a layout: Issue with keyboard input.
