Erm as to fixing the Problem Try, Going Start, right click My Computer and 'Show on Desktop' should be Ticked, if it is then un tick and re tick. If not Tick it

And im guessing it winds them up if its not your PC but the Companys and Can make some of their admin Tools hard to use if they look for My Computer and it is not there as you renamed it

Hello Timothy12 and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could also try System Restore to go back to a date/time prior to renaming My Computer. If you don't have administrative rights to the computer your IT people should have those rights.

I deleted the icon, and then checked the "show on desktop" so it appeared as "MY COMPUTER" but is still does not show a date when the cursor is over the icon. It shows: "Shows the disk drives and hardware connected to this computer." Which is the same as my home computer, so, I'm assuming they must have entered a date on that when they loaded it???

It wasn't a identification problem for IT gal, she just said she needed the date that it was suppose to show??? just wish I could get the date to show... restore would be a real PIA, as I loaded lotus notes, several print drivers, and other programs.

IT person is 100 miles away and does over the phone troubleshoot... the original problem was a proprietary program that wont work/print with the latest version of Adobe, so I know this has nothing to do with that problem, but this really put her sideways.

No, it is Windows 7 Enterprise, NEW HP Pavillion desktop, P6000 model p6754y, AMD II X4 640 processor, 3 ghz... they send all the computers to our computer IT guys to be loaded and then send them out to field throughout the state.

(I right clicked on "My Computer" on the desktop icon, then went to properties, did same from Start, then "My Computer".

She wouldnt tell me the problem other than I shouldnt have renamed My Computer or Computer to Tims Computer as NOW it does not show an important date that she was able to see when the cursor was over the icon, before I renamed it. Do you think SHE changed it to "MY COMPUTER" and added this date when they installed it? and when I renamed it to "Tims Computer" that date, that appeared when the cursor was on it, is now not linked?

Sounded like a simple desktop icon rename deal that IT was making big issue out of, and I wanted to correct it was all. Thanks for ideas anyway.
