    java popup drives me insane

java continually does a pop-up asking several times a day if it can make changes to my computer, way too frequently. it interrupts what i'm doing, interrupts my concentration, and sometimes takes the cursor focus off something i'm doing that it's [insert lumberjack language here] to do that.

google said there's a java control center where you can change how often or something like that. the tab they display on the picture of their own java control panel in their instructions to do this doesn't exist on my own java control panel (yes, i checked thoroughly, even using the windows explorer search.) their instructions probably are for a previous version of java? there's a lot of similar stuff on the internet except for this specific problem.

the popup asks "do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer". there is no checkbox or any way i can find to make it remember it's okay and not continually asking and asking and asking. i don't think it's the firewall doing this, i checked by going to the java folders and ran a some [whatever].exe files and found the file that does the popup, and tried others to see if one of them would make adjustments or allow changes to the popup. no luck.

is there any way i can make a dos program (I know enough that i would be able to write it myself) the way we could in older versions of windows? i tried a couple of simple dos stuff using the command prompt but they wouldn't work. i would write it so the dos asks once a week or so if i want to run that file. maybe someone would volunteer to write a simple c++ or something like that for me?

the only thing i can think of that i haven't tried is leaving a batch of cookies in a fairy ring on the night of the full moon.

i run windows 7, it's up to date, so is java, i do malware etc. twice a week.

i can post a pic showing mine and the googled instructions control panels if you want but i don't really think it would tell you anything that i haven't already told you.

i don't think more information about my computer etc. will tell you anything as it's java that causes the issue, not anything else.

please, please, PULEEEEZE someone think of something to cure this.

thank you so much for your time and help,

    Laurie G

How do I enable and view the Java Console?

Just get in there and disable the notifications.

that capability is not in the control panel. if you have windows 7, you can see for yourself. i don't know if other windows versions would be the same. it's in control panel, there should be one that says java, that is the java control panel. i've already said i couldn't do that because the capability is not there.

if you know windows 7, do you know if there's a way to do dos?

thank you for taking the time to help, i really appreciate it. hopefully you can solve the issue for me.

    win 7 pro 64 bit.
I can just type java in start menu box and hit enter actually.
Starting to wonder if your java install is screwy somehow.

....did you ever install service pack 1?
